It all started when…

… I purchased the land at twenty four years old, forty years ago. The building known as ThroughGood Coffee today has been the place of multiple labors of love since it was originally constructed. Originally built as a daycare center for economically disadvantaged families. It has always been a place of inspiration, innovation and love. 

A super cool feature in the shop are the reclaimed walls behind the bar taken from the Austin Family Home in the Heights before it was torn down. Their home was  constructed in the 1930’s from railroad car parts and discarded shipping pallets collected from Mr. Austin’s workplace and act as a visual reminder of the intrinsic good in everyone and everything previously discarded in life. 

Today, our team is a unique blend of coffee experts, artist, social workers, musicians, writers, bakers, chefs, scholars, and craftsperson’s that never stop dreaming of ways to create a better world through the provision of great coffee.We have an amazing team who have honed their craft, love people, have a passion for quality, and an appreciation for fun. We are forever sourcing, tasting, sampling, cupping, measuring, calibrating, and tweaking. We have traveled the world, experienced the finest, studied with the best, and are committed to bringing that same level of exceptional quality to our corner in the Heights, in Houston Texas.

Coffee is considered a chemical juggernaut. No matter how you like your coffee, our baristas can deliver. Whether it’s a cold brew, espresso, pour-over, V60, dripped, or plunged. We carry the finest quality coffee from three local roasters, who work with respectable and responsible coffee farmers bringing the best beans to your cup. Our coffee beans are roasted in a manner that highlights nuance which balances the sweetness, acidity, and adds a depth of flavor to every cup. Our teas are sourced from Tea Sip Heights and made with Organic and conventionally grown tea leaves and all-natural ingredients. Each tea is hand blended and packaged in Houston, Texas, for the mind, body, and community.
